Lower school students celebrate Grandparents and Special Friends Day
On Thursday, March 28, lower school students welcomed their grandparents and special friends to campus in celebration of Grandparent’s Day! Lower school students proudly hosted their role models for the day bringing them to chapel and to their classrooms to show off their work.
“I love seeing all the joy that Grandparents Day provides with kids bouncing down the halls to show their grandparents how much they love their school,” smiles Angel Amato, parent of Abby Amato ‘33 and Lily Amato ‘35 and Grandparents and Special Friends Day chair.
Dr. Nancy Jones, lower school dean of counseling and student services and director of counseling, beautifully delivered a chapel message about our need for Easter. She invited lower school students and their special guests to consider what would happen if we did not have Easter.
As Dr. Jason Erb, lower school principal, considered Dr. Jones’ question, he reflects… “No Easter means death wins, and we lose. No Easter means there is no forgiveness of sins.”
Thanks to our risen Savior, we know that death does not have the final word, and lower school students and their special friends rejoiced in the beauty and meaning of the resurrection.
“What a gift it was to see firsthand the strong legacy that our students have at Wesleyan! I loved meeting our grandparents and seeing how proud the lower school students were to host these special guests. It is evident that Grandparent’s Day further contributes to our strong community here at Wesleyan,” says Ashton Ragone, parent of Collier Ragone ‘32 and Greer Ragone ‘32 and Grandparents and Special Friends Day chair.
