Lower school students cultivate community

Lower school students have been fostering community, the Christian life theme for the month, at grade-level Bible studies.
Third grade girls meet with Alison Wenz, lower school Christian life coordinator, and third grade boys meet with Dr. Jason Erb, lower school principal, every Thursday morning. Fourth grade girls and boys do the same on Friday mornings.

"Our time together is meant to be a time to read the word of God and talk about how it relates to our lives,” explains Wenz.

In choosing to spend their mornings at Bible study, lower school students are cultivating a sense of community for themselves and their friends and also establishing the habit of studying Scripture.

“As we consider the theme of community this month, I am reminded of Hebrews 10:24-25 and its charge for us to stir up one another to love and good works – to encourage one another,” reflects Davis Brown, assistant director of Christian life: worship and discipleship.

“Our hope is that Wesleyan would be a place of belonging where the love and grace of Christ continues to stir us forwards,” Brown explains.

Thank you, lower school students, for cultivating belonging and community!
