Wesleyan community gathers for the dedication of Sharon and Matt Cole Hall

On Wednesday, February 21, the Wesleyan community gathered for the dedication of Sharon and Matt Cole Hall, formerly known as the Fine Arts Building.
Matt Cole, board member and former Wesleyan employee, began his career at Wesleyan as a history teacher and an assistant swim coach before moving into development.

“The campus and endowment are a testament to his effectiveness,” describes Zach Young, headmaster emeritus.

Chris Cleveland, head of school, also described Sharon and Matt and their legacy at Wesleyan. He noted Sharon’s love for Scripture and learning about God, explaining that she exemplifies Proverbs 9:10, which says that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” He honored Matt for his success in fundraising for the school and in caring for the students that walk the campus.

“Your influence goes well beyond brick and mortar,” explains Cleveland.

Rob Binion, vice-chairman of the board, praised Sharon and Matt for their love for education, students, and most importantly for Christ. He described Cole as a modern-day philanthropist, a reader, a historian, and a humble servant to all.

Young, Cleveland, and Binion all shared about the joy they receive knowing that current and future Wesleyan students will know the “Cole” name, thus furthering the legacy of Sharon and Matt’s discipline, dedication, and generosity.

“The name given is for the Coles’ generosity of spirit,” smiles Young.

Thank you, Sharon and Matt, for your love for Wesleyan, and thanks for all who joined us to celebrate!
