Senior Elizabeth Tian featured in 2023 AP Art and Design Exhibit now live

Senior Elizabeth Tian was selected from more than 74,000 students nationwide to be featured in the 2023 AP Art and Design Exhibit, which is now live.
The exhibit features 46 high school artists and includes these high-achieving students’ artwork and statements, teacher statements, and school leader statements.

In her student statement, Tian shares that she aims to convey the internalized human tension due to fear of rejection for standing up to society’s expectations.

“As an artist, I believe artwork should share emotions with viewers and become mentally interactive,” shares Tian.

Tian credits Meagan Brooker, high school visual arts teacher, with teaching her to experiment outside of the box through the exploration of multiple mediums and the possibility of using 3-D elements to manipulate 2-D surfaces.

“Elizabeth is one of those brilliant, innately gifted, artistic souls,” states Brooker. “Every decision and brushstroke is intentional and intelligent. The tension she explores in these highlighted pieces is palpable, and her creative brilliance shines though as she masterfully makes each piece with unique media and technique.”

We invite you to view Tian’s work here.

Congratulations, Elizabeth!
