Green & Gold earns highest rating for excellence

Joseph Koch, high school principal, recently announced that the high school newspaper, the Green & Gold has earned the highest rating of "superior" from the Georgia Scholastic Press Association (GSPA), which assists high school and middle school media programs and students in the state of Georgia by encouraging their production of quality publications. The Green & Gold is produced once a month throughout the school year and is distributed to high school students and faculty.
Twenty-five publications entered the Spring General Excellence contest. According to the GSPA website, “entries were grouped by schools’ student population totals. The professional judges were instructed to give as much detailed feedback as possible in each critique.”

The Green & Gold is a class for sophomores through seniors who are interested in learning about journalistic writing and design/layout. The class currently has 12 students; senior Lily Morris serves as editor, and senior Ella Rayburn supports as assistant editor. The students write the articles and research and develop the materials that are in the Green & Gold. Meredith Jamieson, assistant director of admissions, and Andrea Shupert, assistant director of college advising, serve as faculty advisors for the Green & Gold, and they expressed their praise for this young staff and their accomplishments in receiving the highest rating given by the GSPA.
