Lower school students celebrate spiritual life week

Even when our eyes play tricks on us, the Word of God remains firm.

That is the lesson lower school students learned last week during their annual Spiritual Life Week. Each day, lower school students attended special chapels led by David Laflin, illusionist and nationally renowned speaker. David reminded lower school students of the truths of God’s Word with a special spin on classic stories from the Bible.
On Wednesday, students took part in an illusion that helped illustrate the Old Testament story of Daniel in the lions’ den. No matter how many times David tied the ropes around the image of Daniel there was no way the lions could attack him!

“Getting lower school students excited about the stories of God’s faithfulness is an important part of sowing the seeds of faith in their lives,” said Alison Wenz, lower school Bible teacher and Christian life coordinator. “When they are engaged in unique ways, the stories stick and this was a fun way to take a deeper dive into God’s Word.”

Lower school parents, be sure to ask your children what they learned about the Bible last week, and if you’re lucky, they may also show you a slight-of-hand trick, too!
