Troy Nguyen repeats as middle school spelling bee champion
For the second year in a row, eighth grade student Troy Nguyen won the middle school spelling bee. Nguyen and runner-up Tom Hughes will move on to the first round of the GISA spelling bee on Feb. 3, 2022.
“The 2022 middle school spelling bee proved to be another exciting event for both the participants and the audience members,” remarked Ashley Kuehne, spelling bee coordinator.
Twenty-one students competed in the 2022 middle school spelling bee:
- Five 5th grade students participated.
- Six 6th grade students participated.
- Five 7th grade students participated.
- Five 8th grade students participated.
In the 10th round, Nguyen was declared the winner when he correctly spelled kaleidoscope.
