7th Grade
This past weekend, the 7th grade team began their postseason run against St. Pius.  Going into the tournament Head Coach Drew Blackman stressed the importance of executing the hustle plays on offense and defense. The Lady Wolves fought hard on the defensive end, limiting St. Pius to two points in the first quarter. The defense was spearheaded by the aggressive play of Grace McLeod, who displayed solid shot blocking and aggressive rebounding throughout the contest.  The Lady Wolves entered halftime with a 14-10 lead on St. Pius. During halftime, the Lady Wolves listened to a speech from Varsity Head Coach Carolyn Blackman urging the girls to keep up the aggressive play and to continue to attack the defense with her signature Memphis offense.  Coach Blackman’s speech largely impacted starting guard Ansley Jamieson, who was held scoreless in the first half. Jamieson erupted for 9 points in the second half, leading the Lady Wolves in scoring for the game.  With time winding down in the fourth quarter the Lady Wolves held a three-point lead until St. Pius scored a 3-point shot to send the game into overtime.  In overtime, Jamieson drew a critical foul and knocked down two clutch free throws to give our Lady Wolves the first-round victory over St. Pius.  With a focus on attitude and effort, the Lady Wolves willed their way to the semi-finals to face off against the Golden Bears of Holy Innocents' Episcopal School.  With their invigorating defense, and high-octane offense, we can expect the Lady Wolves to fight to the finish as they continue their path to a championship.
