Softball - Area Champions

The Varsity Softball team emerged from the Area Tournament as Champions last Thursday.  On Tuesday, the girls dropped a heartbreaker to George Walton by a score of 1-2 in 13 innings.  The team immediately rebounded with an 8-1 victory over Prince Avenue to stay alive in the Area tournament.  That win set up a critical rematch with George Walton on Thursday. The games looked destined to be postponed due to rain, but a strong tarp and a dedicated Grounds Crew saved the day.  Game 1 saw Ryley Kutter in the circle for the Wolves where she relinquished only 1 run while striking out 14.  In the bottom of the 6th, Tinsley Bertram led off with a double, followed by a double from Ryley Kutter.  After an intentional walk to Macey Cintron, Marjee Williams drew a walk to bring the winning run home.  The Wolves dominated game two from start to finish.  The 10-0 final score was punctuated by a shutout from Macey Cintron in the Circle, and an electric inside the park homerun from Jasmine Green.  The team earned a First-Round Playoff bye this week, and will face the winner of Darlington and Savannah Christian October 20th and 21st if needed.
