Wesleyan Celebrates 10th Annual John Wesley Day

On November 19, Wesleyan welcomed current parent and former faculty member Andy Cook to speak to the middle and high school students for the 10th annual John Wesley Day. John Wesley Day is a day set apart at Wesleyan to express gratitude for the sacrificial giving of both the founders of the school and those who sustain the school through their continued generosity.

Cook, who introduced the tradition of  John Wesley day at Wesleyan, spoke on the importance of gratitude, specifically how our hearts can be transformed to a spirit of gratitude at the feet of Jesus. He also spoke on how to become a more grateful person stating, "Our world needs so much gratitude. It brings people together; it unifies us. It brings us joy. So what do we do with that? How do we increase gratitude?"

John Wesley became a person of gratitude, through creating space and sitting in the presence of God. Cook challenged the students to find time to create that space over the next seven days. "If you want to experience gratitude, if you want gratitude to be something that abounds at Wesleyan School, it's going to come from the presence of Jesus."

Chapel’s worship music was provided by alumni and current faculty member Brittany Stevens '13 and her brother alumni Justin Stevens '11.
