Middle School Talks About Healthy Habits

Throughout the year, middle school students have time built into their schedule to break from class and hear speakers talk about topics that do not pertain directly to class work.
On Friday, September 25, the middle school heard from Sean Nestor, middle school counselor, on the importance of developing healthy habits. Topics included being active, eating, sleeping, technology usage, and relationships.
Students learned about the importance of breakfast and even had the opportunity to hear from our SAGE Dining services lunch team about their expanded lunch menu options. For sleep, students learned that eight to 10 hours is the recommended amount for children their age, and that developing a bedtime routine can impact how quickly they fall asleep.

With technology usage, Nestor discussed how it can be incredibly helpful, but technology can also be an additional stressor. Students should seek additional places to rest outside of social media, Netflix, and games
The program ended with Nestor talking about how the most important thing to invest in right now is relationships, beginning with a relationship with Jesus. Especially because of quarantine and COVID-19, it is important to show gratitude for all your relationships - with friends, family, and the Lord.
