Model Arab League Club attends Conference at Marist School

January 28, 2019

Last week members of Model Arab League Club attended a conference at Marist School. At the conference, during Model Arab League debates, the club would divide up into rooms based on a specific topic with many various countries represented. Countries then would work together to come up with solutions to their nation’s problem. After coming up with a solution, the group of countries working together would work together to form a concrete paper with goals, plans, and other necessities for the solution. The entirety of the countries will then debate whether or not the hypothetical solution will fix the problem. According to Model Arab League’s website there are many valuable skills students learn from Model Arab League saying, “In the process, students not only deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Arab world and its peoples, but they have an extraordinary chance to develop and practice useful analytical, organizational, writing, editing, and public speaking skills”. Wesleyan students also won various awards at the conference. Award winners are listed below.
