Wesleyan’s Sports Medicine department is staffed by two full-time, nationally-certified and state-licensed athletic trainers.
The program provides quality preventative and post-injury care to the students and staff of the school. The staff works closely with area physicians and with Dr. Yvonne Satterwhite and Dr. Scott Middlebrooks from Resurgens Orthopaedics.
Kerri began at Wesleyan in September, 2014. Prior to Wesleyan, she was an assistant athletic trainer at Buford HS. Kerri completed her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from UNC at Pembroke in 2010. Between undergraduate and graduate studies, she served as an intern athletic trainer at Coastal Carolina University, primarily working with football and tennis. Kerri completed her Master of Science in Sports Medicine in 2013 from Georgia State University and worked as an assistant athletic trainer at The Lovett School during this time. She is nationally Board Certified, holds an athletic training license in Georgia, and is certified in AED use, CPR and First Aid. Chris Encinas - ATC/L, ACSM-CPT
Chris joined the Wesleyan staff in July 2015. Prior to Wesleyan, he worked at Lakeside High School with the football and wrestling teams. He has also spent time with the Gwinnett County Police and Fire Academy, Atlanta Defenders semi-pro football team, and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Atlanta Open. Chris completed his Bachelor of Science in Health/Athletic Training from The University of North Florida in 1998. He is nationally Board certified, holds an athletic training license in Georgia and is certified in CPR, AED use and First Aid. Chris also holds a Personal Trainer certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. Chris has been married for 11 years and has two children, ages 6 and 3.
