MS Softball Update

The MS Softball Wolves went 2-1 this week in the Middle School Softball Tournament hosted by Wesleyan. The Wolves defeated Peachtree MS 6-3 in the opening round game on Tuesday (9/19). In the next round on Wednesday (9/20) the Wolves fell to St. Pius 9-3, but quickly bounced back in the elimination game defeating Peachtree MS again by the score of 7-0. The tournament will continue on Saturday morning with the Wolves hosting at 8am. The opponent is TBD. Click below to read more of the highlights from the tournament thus far. 
MS Softball wins opening tournament game 6-3 vs. Peachtree Middle School
Rhiyan Fairman delivered the big blow in the bottom of the third inning.  With the bases loaded and the Lady Wolves down 2-1, Fairman blasted a triple off the wall in left to knock in three runs and put the Wolves ahead for good.  Chloe Hurd, Stella Leutenegger and Fairman had two hits apiece to pace the Lady Wolves (4-3) who move on to the second round to face St. Pius on Wednesday, 9/20.  Fairman earned the win pitching five innings and striking out eight batters on the day moving her season total to 51 strikeouts over 26 innings pitched. Notably, Siena Myers and Collins Gifford did a tremendous job behind the plate defensively.

MS Softball plays two, defeats Peachtree Middle School again to advance to Saturday
The Lady Wolves fell to St. Pius 9-3 on Wednesday of tournament week to move into the bottom half of the bracket. Siena Myers and Chloe Hurd each had two hits and three stolen bases to pace the offense.  The Lady Wolves quickly turned around to face Peachtree Middle School again in an elimination game and received a dominating pitching performance from Rhiyan Fairman who led the Wolves to a 7-0 victory. Fairman pitched a one-hit complete game shutout striking out six.  The Lady Wolves capitalized on timely hitting from Collins Gifford, Claire Hagan and Olivia Justice to score six runs in the 4th inning to lock down the win.
