Varsity Wrestling Round-Up

2/18/23
The Wrestling Wolves finished the 2022-2023 campaign 12th overall in the traditional tournament.  Seniors Jake Neu and Trent Debow finished second in their respective weight classes while Jackson Douglas placed fifth overall.
 
 
2/10/23
Four Wolves competed at state sectionals over the weekend, and four Wolves earned a bid to the State Tournament this upcoming weekend in Macon!  Jake Neu finished as sectionals Champion, Trent Debow finished second, Jackson Douglas placed 4th and Christopher Izzo finished 5th.

2/4/23
The Wrestling Wolves competed at Individual Region on Saturday at Gilmer County with 5 wrestlers placing and 4 qualifying for Sectionals next weekend at Upson Lee High School.  Jake Neu walked away a Region Champion; Trent DeBow took 2nd; Jackson Douglas and Christopher Izzo placed 3rd; Judson means took 5th. 


1/14/22
On Saturday, the Wrestling Wolves hosted Pinecrest, GACS, Seckinger, and North Murray. The Wolves went 3-1, defeating North Murray, GACS, and Pinecrest, but falling to Seckinger by two points in their final dual. The Wolves hope to take this momentum into their Senior Night duals this upcoming Thursday at Home in the Hoover Mezzanine.

12/12/22

The Wrestling Wolves have started the started the season strong with several good showings at tournaments. We are led by Seniors Jake Neu (15-1, with 14 pins), Trent DeBow (13-3), Lance Humphreys (16-6), and Chris Izzo (7-4). A surprise on the team this year has been Sophomore Jackson Douglas (12-0) who has stepped up this year and has 10 pins. Freshman Winston Wu has also made several appearances on Varsity and is undefeated in his JV schedule so far. Heading into the heart of the season, the Wolves look forward to wrestling at Berkmar in the Guerilla Warfare Tournament (12/16-12/17), the Gwinnett County Championships (12/21-12/22), the Amicalola Classic (12/30), and then head into the Region Tournament on Jan. 7.
