Varsity Boys Basketball Round-Up

After falling to Gilmer 68-47, the Boys team will play for the 3 seed from our region on Saturday at 4:30pm at Dawson County.  Josh Kavel led scoring with 18 in the loss.

The Boys finished their regular season with a 73-51 win over Dawson County on the road.  Josh Kavel scored a season high 33 while Thomas Chipman added 15.  The Wolves earned a first round by in this week's region tournament and will play at 8:30pm at Dawson County on Thursday.

The boys traveled to Jasper Georgia and came away with the Regular Season Region crown, defeating Pickens 62-48.  Josh Kavel and James McGriff each scored 20 to lead the Wolves while Thomas Chipman tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolves bested West Hall on the road in a defensive struggle 44-38 to secure a crucial region win.  Scoring was led by Josh Kavel with 12, Thomas Chipman with 10, Brayden Tidwell with 8, and Derwin Hodge blocked 5 shots.

The boys squad bested the B.E.S.T Academy Eagles 73-46 behind 24 points from Josh Kavel, 14 from Brayden Tidwell, and 12 from Brice Gillis.

The Wolves took to the road to defeat Lumpkin County 50-39.  Josh Kavel again led scoring with 21 while Brayden Tidwell added 10 of his own.

The Boys defended Yancey 61-38 against Dawson County behind 22 points from Josh Kavel, 15 from Thomas Chipman, and 13 from James McGriff.

The Boys knocked off region rival Pickens County 49-37 behind 25 points from Josh Kavel, 9 points and 3 blocks from Derwin Hodge, and 11 boards by Thomas Chipman.

The Boys hosted the Peachtree Corners Classic this week in Yancey gyms which featured 8 teams from around the state of Georgia.  After a win over Greene County in the first round, the team fells to North Cobb High School and turned around to defeat Stephenson 44-42 on a last second shot from Josh Kavel to earn 3rd place overall.

The boys hit the road and traveled to White County for another region tilt, falling 47-36.  Freshman Brice Gillis led scoring with 10 points.

The Wolves are 1-0 in region play after a big win over Lumpkin County, 62-39.  Thomas Chipman led scoring with 20 while James McGriff and Josh Kavel scored 11 a piece.  Special thank you to honorary captains Chase Sykes and Benjamin Erb, and water boy Drew Cusimano for helping out!

Northview downed the Wolves in a close one, 52-53.  Josh Kavel had 33 and Thomas Chipman had 12.

The Wolves went on the road and took down old rival GAC 60-49.  Josh Kavel dropped 18 points, Thomas Chipman added 16, and big man James McGriff posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the paint.

The Wolves fell in a back and forth contest against Providence on the road, 48-54.  Josh Kavel led scoring with 19 while Thomas Chipman added 17 points of his own.


The Boys have started out the season 4-0 with wins over Lakeside, Westminster, Adairsville, and Excel Christian!  Through four games, Josh Kavel is leading the team in scoring with 19 ppg, Thomas Chipman leads the team in rebounds per game with 10, and Derwin Hodge is blocking 2.5 shots per game.
