Governor’s Honors Program - Olivia Curran

The College Advising office is pleased to announce that Olivia Curran (’19), daughter of Diana Curran, has been invited to study Communicative Arts in the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) at Berry College in Rome this June-July. Over 1,500 Georgia students were selected as semi-finalists with approximately 600 chosen to attend the program; GHP offers twelve majors that are characterized as either academic majors or performing arts majors. Wesleyan nominated five students to the program, who chose their particular areas of study; four of them were able to move on to the semi-finalist stage. Curran was the only one chosen to attend the program, which is a residential program for gifted high school students. The program is significantly different from the typical high school program as it provides students with enrichments, which will enable them “to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.” Please join us in congratulating Olivia Curran for this outstanding opportunity and click the "Read More' button for more details.

Curran, a member of Wesleyan’s Honor Council, Winter Guard, Literary Magazine, History Bowl and the Marching Band, will attend classes during the day as she interacts with students from across the state. The program is full funded by the state and offers many “social and instructional opportunities.”

When informed of her acceptance, Curran stated, “I can’t wait for this summer.” Curran’s summer will be busy as she not only will be attending GHP but also working on her Gold Award, a food-bank cookbook, for the Girl Scouts. Curran is committed to service having just served on the Guatemala mission trip during spring break.
