Varsity Girls Basketball Round-Up

3/3/23
The season came to a close in the Final 4 for the Lady Wolves, falling to Hebron 65-58.  Chit Chat Wright led scoring with 31 followed by Audrey Ekoue-Bla with 10.  Johanna Potter led rebounding with 5.
2/28/23
Your Lady Wolves secured a spot in the Final 4 by defeating Carver Columbus 78-71 in Yancey.  The Wolves exploded for 78 against a stifling defense and were led by Audrey Ekoue-bla with 20, Chit-Chat Wright with 19, Eva Garabadian with 17, and Johanna Potter with 14.  They will take on Hebron at 2pm on Friday in Warner Robins on the campus of Fort Valley State to earn a place in the State Finals.

The Lady Wolves opened the 2023 Playoffs with a dominant win over Franklin County, 79-29.  Johanna Potter led scoring with 22 points while Chit-Chat Wright logged a double-double dropping 15 points and 10 assists.  They defend Yancey again on Friday against Coahulla Creek at 6pm.

2/16/23
Onto the Region Championship!  After defeating White County 61-53 this evening, the Lady Wolves have secured a spot in the region championship against Lumpkin County on Saturday the 18th at 6pm at Dawson County High School.  Chit Chat Wright led the Wolves with 22 points, followed by Londyn Walker with 13 and Johanna Potter with 10.

2/10/23
The Girls wrapped up the regular season with a 69-42 win over Dawson County, securing the 2nd seed in this week's region tournament.  Chit Chat Wright scored 19, Johanna Potter scored 13, Londyn Walker scored 11 and Eva Garabadian had 10.  The girls play on Monday at 7:30pm against West Hall in Yancey Gym to open the Region Tournament.

2/7/23
The Girls took a region game from Pickens County 58-46 behind 15 points from Chit-Chat Wright and Johanna Potter, 12 from Eva Garabadian, and 9 from Londyn Walker.  They will close the regular season on the road this Friday at Dawson County.

1/31/23
Johanna Potter led scoring with 18 as the Wolves topped West Hall 71-16.  Desiree Davis added 17 and 9 rebounds.

1/28/23
The Girls defended Yancey against the #2 ranked Buford Wolves of 7A, 72-58!  Chit Chat Wright lead scorers with 27 followed by Eva Garabadian with 17 and Johanna Potter with 15.

1/24/23
The Wolves took down region foe White County 68-43 in Yancey Gym.  Eva Garabadian and Chit Chat Wright led scoring with 19 points a piece, followed by Audrey Ekoue-Bla with 8, Desiree Davis with 6, and Johanna Potter with 6.  Tuesday was a particularly special evening as Junior Chit-Chat Wright eclipsed the 1000 point mark for her Wesleyan career!

1/20/23
The girls fell on the road at Lumpkin County, 70-48.  Chit Chat Wright was the leading scorer with 19 and 11 rebounds.  Eva Garabadian added 11 and 6 rebounds.

1/17/23
The Wolves bested Dawson County at home, 72-43.  Scoring was led by Chit Chat Wright and Londyn Walker with 15 a piece while Johanna Potter and Eva Garabadian added 14 of their own.

1/14/23
Wesleyan bested Mt. Bethel 64-20 while Londyn Walker notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

1/13/23
Chit-Chat Wright led the Wolves with 13 points as they cruised to a 55-39 victory over region foe Pickens County.

1/7/23
Audrey Ekou-Bla scored 10 to help the Wolves defeat Arlington 38-33 on the road.

Every Wolf on the roster scored in a dominant region win over West Hall, 76-16!

12/30/22
Over the break the girls played in the Deep South Classic at Brookwood High School coming away with 3rd place honors.  The Girls opened with a 60-49 victory over Tift followed up by a close 67-68 loss to the hosts Brookwood.  In the third place game, the Wolves defeated 7A Collins Hill 64-59.  Chit Chat Wright made the all-tournament-team!

12/10/22
The Varsity girls bounced back from a Friday defeat at White County to beat Walton 82-25 in Marchman.  Chit-Chat Wright scored 30 points, Londyn Walker had 13, and Audrey Ekou-Bla had 11.

12/6/22
Chit Chat Wright capped a 14 point rally in the second half with a last second coast-to-coast layup to force overtime against the defending State Champions from Lumpkin County.  In overtime, they pulled away for a 74-68 victory to open the region 1-0.  Wright led scoring with 20, Eva Garabadian was hot on her heels with 18, Londyn Walker dropped a dozen, and Audrey Ekoue-Bla had 10.

12/2/22
An old rivalry went the way of the Wolves on Friday with a 59-56 victory over GAC on the road.  Chit Chat Wright scored 13 with 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  Johanna Potter added 10 points a 3 rebounds, Eva Garabadian scored 10 and pulled down 6 boards, and Shayla Bahr scored 10 points of her own.  The girls return to Yancey on Tuesday for a top-10 matchup against Lumpkin County to open region play.

Your Varsity Girls have jumped out to a 3-0 start with a win over Westminster, 74-58.  Chit Chat Wright scored 17 and added 8 assists and 7 steals.  Four other Wolves scored in the double digits: Eva Garabadian (16), Johanna Potter (15), Audrey Ekou-Bla (12), and Shayla Bahr (10).
