Macey Cintron '24 plays softball with the Puerto Rican national team

Macey Cintron ‘24 is in Guatemala playing softball with the Puerto Rican national team at the Pan American Championship. Teams from North, Central, and South America are among those competing.
The Puerto Rican team was among the top four teams to advance to the medal rounds of the tournament. The first day of medal rounds took place today.

Cintron is the youngest member of her team by at least six years. Other members of the team include former college stars and current professional players Aleshia Ocasio and Taran Alvelo who are both veterans of the national program.

“I enjoy being the youngest because it allows me to learn from the more experienced players on the team,” remarks Cintron.

Cintron explains that it is an honor to represent her heritage on the Puerto Rican team, and she is thankful for the growth that has come from all the hard work and training.

“The training leading up to this tournament was very tough, and it pushed me to new levels, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” reflects Cintron. “It consisted of a lot of long nights and a lot of hours of hard work, even when I was tired.”

Way to go, Macey! We are cheering you on.
