Guest speaker shares in high school Bible class

On Monday, Nov. 14, guest speaker George Dempsey spoke in Mr. Archer’s high school Bible elective, “Eschatology: End Times & Book of Revelation.” Dempsey is the father of Millie Dempsey ‘24, and he earned his Ph.D. in Educational Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary.
Dempsey spoke to Archer’s classes about the book of Revelation, which they have been studying over the past couple of months. He emphasized the importance of studying history through the lens of scripture and considering historical events when reading through the Bible.

“Surely, God who used history throughout the Old Testament would use history now,” Dempsey reflected.

He taught students about the seven trumpets mentioned in Revelation that will sound before Christ’s return. He encouraged each student to reflect on historical events and consider if they may match up with the trumpets.

We are thankful for opportunities for our students to learn from local experts with a passion for sharing God’s word. Thank you, Dr. Dempsey!
