Wesleyan announces 2022-2023 spring break mission trips
Eighth through twelfth grade students are invited to serve alongside faculty leaders on one of 10 international and domestic mission trips. The missions program is designed to parallel Wesleyan’s mission to provide students opportunities to explore their faith in Christ through service.
The program began in 2000 with two trips to a single location, and since then, the program has grown tremendously.
“God has been so good and faithful as we have prayed and searched for mission partners to work with all around the world and in the United States,” shares Assistant Director of Christian Life for Missions and Retreats Alex O’Donnell ‘06.
Students will serve domestically in Miami, Kentucky, New Mexico, and Chattanooga. In Miami, students will work with Miami Rescue Mission to help meet the needs of the ministry and serve the homeless community in the city. In Kentucky, students will work on projects in the community including home repair and painting. In New Mexico, students will spend time ministering to and serving the Navajo community. In Chattanooga, eighth grade students and high school servant leaders will work with widows in the community to help with house projects and yard work.
Students will also serve internationally in Spain, Peru, two locations in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Italy. In Spain, students will spend time with refugees and kids within two cities, demonstrating the love of Christ and learning to share the Gospel. On one trip to the Dominican Republic and in Peru, students will work alongside Kids Alive to provide Christian care for orphans and at-risk kids. On another trip to the Dominican Republic, students will work with DR SCORE to partner with a local family and support their existing ministry within the city. In Ecuador, students will work with a local pastor and his family to minister to different mountain villages. In Italy, students will engage in relational ministry with refugees and children, presenting VBS lessons in the communities.
