Middle School Tennis Round-Up

10/4/22
The Wolves played another nail-biter on Tuesday against a very strong team from GAC.  The score was tied at two wins apiece after Christian Mola took his singles match, and Reid Oetting and Karan Patell won at second doubles. Tension was high as the winner of line one doubles would decide the match.  With the season on the line and the score tied at 6 games all, Joseph Kwon and Harrison Moore dug deep, and playing exceptional tennis, took the final two games for a thrilling 8-6 win and a second consecutive 3-2 team victory.  The win moves the boys into the league finals on Thursday against Woodward Academy. Let's go, Wolves!!

The Middle School Boys Tennis Team pulled off an exciting win in the first round of the league tournament on Monday against Sutton Middle School.  After Jack Manning and Koen Deadwyler posted singles' wins, the match came down down to the second doubles' pair of Karan Patell and Shaan Sancheti. With the score tied at 7-7, the team needed a tiebreak win to extend their season.  Things looked bleak for Wesleyan as the boys fell behind 3-6 and faced a match point.  However, playing inspired tennis, the Wolves won the next 5 points to seal the win with a thrilling 8-6 victory.  The team continues on to a second round match against GAC at home on Tuesday.  Congratulations, Wolves!


9/22/22
The Middle School Boys tennis team returned to their winning ways by defeating Westminster at home on Wednesday by a close score of 3-2.  Jack Manning was a standout in singles, as were Andy Mo and Ried Oetting in doubles. In exhibition play, both Shaan Sancheti and Harrison Baughman posted convincing wins.  The final match of the regular season will be played next Thursday at Woodward Academy, and then the Wolves will be on to the playoffs!

The MS tennis teams played a hotly contested match against Pace Academy on Tuesday, with the overall score ending in a 5-5 tie. The girls took the win 3-2, while the boys fell just short, 2-3.  Wesleyan's first two girls' singles' players, Bridgette Bailliard and Katelyn Rose Holland had convincing wins, and Emma Mack sealed the win for the Lady Wolves with a thrilling come from behind 8-7 tiebreak victory. Andy Mo had a close 8-5 win at 3rd singles for the boys, as did the doubles team of Karan Patell / Shaan Sancheti.

The Middle School boys continued their winning streak on Thursday, scoring a 5-0 sweep of Sutton Middle School to remain undefeated on the season.  Christian Mola and Koen Deadwyler swept their opponents in singles play, while Jack Manning,  Ried Oetting, Jack Morris and Pace Rosenkampff also scored decisive wins.
 
Bridgette Bailliard turned in another dominant win in girls' singles, and Anastasia Lamas and Ella Paciorek played a strong match, just falling short 6-8 in doubles.
 
The Wolves have two home matches this coming week, please come and cheer them on.

The Middle School boys continued their excellent play, bringing home another strong win against Howard on Tuesday afternoon. Outstanding matches were played by Christian Mola at first singles and Karan Patell, who clinched the match sweep for the Wolves with a hard fought 8-6 victory at third singles.

On the girls' side, Bridgette Bailliard played an outstanding match, taking a thrilling 8-7 tie-break win over an excellent opponent at first singles.

The Middle School boys kept their winning streak alive with a close 3-2 win over a very strong team from Lovett on Thursday afternoon. Koen Deadwyler picked up his third dominant singles' win of the season. The doubles teams remain undefeated, with Andy Mo, Reid Oetting, Harrison Moore and Karan Patell bringing home wins.

Boys Tennis:
The Middle School Boys tennis team played an outstanding match on Tuesday at home against Carrollton. The boys had a clean sweep of both singles and doubles, only allowing their opponents a total of 4 games throughout the 5 matches.  Jack Manning and  Koen Deadwyler  were standouts in singles, as were the doubles teams of Harrison Moore/Joseph Kwon and Andy Mo/ Ried Oetting.
 
Girls Tennis:
The Middle School Girls Tennis Team lost a very close match 2-3 against Carrollton at home on Tuesday.  Emma Mack had a decisive 8-1 win at third singles, and in their first ever match, sixth graders Ella Paciorek and Caroline Stokes came away with an 8-2 victory. Well done, girls!
