Cross Country Round-Up

The Running Wolves set Personal Records all over the place this Saturday at the Southern Stampede in Hunstville, AL, an invitational event for some of the top programs across the Southeastern region.  The girls team was led by our top 3 runners who all set new lifetime PR’s: Julie Anne Bush (20:17), Ella Richards (20:40), and Abigail Glover (20:49).  The boys team was led by Wood Moore (16:43), Andrew Cook (17:08) and Christopher Izzo (17:48). Andrew and Wood set lifetime PR’s, and Wood's perfomance landed him 15th in school history.

The Girls took second place at the Big Peach Invitational over the weekend in a pool of teams that were mostly 4A and above!  Julie Anne Bush came in 7th overall with a time of 20:44 and Eva Murphy finished right behind her in 8th with a time of 20:49.  Sticking together, Kyra Brubaker, Ella Richards, Ansley Voss, and Abigail Glover finished 17th-20th overall all around the 21:30 mark.  

Wood Moore led the pack for the boys with an 11th place finish and a time of 17:20, Andrew Cook was right on his heels with a 13th place finish at 17:34, and Christopher Izzo rounded out the top 20 with a time of 17:48.  As a team, Wesleyan finished 5th overall out of 16 teams.

Boys: Last weekend was a great start to the Wesleyan boys cross country season! The varsity boys team finished runner-up in their race, and the JV boys team finished first. The varsity team was led by Wood Moore (18:21), Andrew Cook (18:30), and Christopher Izzo (18:55), who all saw an improvement in their course records from last season. 

Girls:  The Girls Cross Country team kicked off the 2022 season with a dominating performance in both the Varsity and JV divisions at the Wesleyan Invitational. The Varsity team placed first out of 8 teams led by strong finishes from Eva Murphy (21:52, 3rd), Abigail Glover (22:15, 4th), Ella Richards (22:24, 6th), Ansley Voss (22:31, 7th), and Julie Anne Bush (22:40, 8th). The Wolves also placed first in the JV division with top finishes from Heidi Heppner (22:33, 1st), Skyla Keo (24:35, 2nd), Amelia Marsh (25:03, 4th), Lauren Tucker (25:05, 5th), and Caroline Yates (25:08, 6th).
