Varsity Softball Round-Up

10/29/22
Your Wesleyan Softball Wolves are the 2022 GHSA AAA State Champions!  After sweeping the State Championship tournament in Columbus, the Wolves have captured back to back state championships for the second time in program history.  In the circle for the Wolves, Ryley Kutter and Macey Cintron only surrendered a combined 3 runs in four games while Cintron tossed a no-hitter on the second day of the tournament against Oconee County.  At the plate, Christina McCoy hit three homeruns in four games to pace the offense.
10/21/22
The Wolves completed a sweep of the Super Regional by dispatching Lafayette 7-0.  Macey Cintron earned the win in the circle behind a 9 strike-out shutout performance.  At the dish, Shayla Bahr went 3-3 including a homerun and Avery Tucker went 2-4 with 2 RBI.  That performance earned the girls a ticket to Columbus this week to play in the State Tournament featuring 7 other schools from across the state.  The Wolves will on Wednesday at 11am against Jackson County.

10/10/22
The Softball Wolves opened the region tournament at Coal Mountain Park with a 5 inning, 8-0 dismissal of Lumpkin County behind a perfect pitching performance from Macey Cintron.  She struck out 9 on her way to a clean pitching slate, and added 3 RBI to her cause at the plate.  Marjee Williams went 2-2 with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBI, while Ryley Kutter, Sarah Wren, and Lily Nydam pushed a run across as well.

10/7/22
The Wolves honored their seniors with a 6-0 victory over Cambridge at Agape Field.  Ryley Kutter tossed a complete game 2 hitter with 10 strikeouts, while Christina McCoy and Shayla Bahr went yard.

10/4/22
Your Wolves secured a perfect Region record in the regular season and the first seed in the Region tournament next week by dispatching Lumpkin County on the road 7-1.  Macey Cintron was lights out in the circle tossing 7 innings and striking out 15 of her 21 outs.  Christina McCoy hit yet another home run, this time a solo bomb while Shayla Bahr and Avery Tucker knocked two hits apiece.

10/3/22
The Wolves went on the road and beat Pickens County 7-1.  The girls combined for 11 hits, two a piece from Avery Tucker, Ryley Kutter, Sarah Wren, and Christina McCoy.  One of McCoy's hits landed over the fence for two runs, while Kutter jacked a solo shot.  Kutter tossed a complete game with 8 strikeouts from the circle.

9/28/22
The Wolves won in dramatic fashion over the Brookwood Broncos as Senior Marjee Williams walked the game off in the bottom of the 7th inning with a single, scoring Macey Cintron.  Before Williams' walk off hit, Shayla Bahr blasted a home run to tie the game in the 7th.  Ryley Kutter tossed all 7 innings earning the win behind an 11 K performance.  At the plate she helped her own cause going 2-4 with an RBI.  The final score was 5-4.

9/21/22
The Wolves came from behind to pull out a close Region win over White County, 3-2.  Ryley Kutter pitched 7 inning and went 2-2 from the plate including the go-ahead solo homerun in the 6th inning.  Sarah Wren went 2-3 on the night.

9/20/22
The Wolves continued their perfect Region slate by defeating Gilmer Co. 8-0 in five innings.  Macey Cintron pitched 5 innings, striking out 13 of the 15 batters she faced.  Cintron also knocked a 2-run bomb to help her own effort.  Avery Tucker went 2-3 with a double, triple, and and RBI.  Ryley Kutter also went 2-3 with a triple and an RBI.

9/19/22
The Wolves went on the road to Chattanooga and swept the weekend defeating Heritage 3-1, Tattnall Square 7-2, and Calhoun 8-3.  Ryley Kutter pitched 13 innings on the weekend collecting 2 wins while Macey Cintron added 5 innings and a win in the circle.  Marjee Williams knocked a homer against Calhoun.

9/13/22
The Varsity Softball Team stayed perfect in the Region by taking a road game against Dawson County by the score of 9-1.  Macey Cintron notched 12 strikeouts in her 6 innings of work in the circle and had a 3-4 night at the plate with 2 RBI.  Avery Tucker went 2-2 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases, Marjee Williams went 2-4 with a double and a home run, Christina McCoy went 2-4 with 2 doubles, and Lily Nydam was 2-3 with an RBI.

8/31/22
The Wolves travelled to White County where they knocked 13 hits, scored 11 runs, and held their opponents scoreless on the evening.  Macey Cintron hurled 4 innings to earn the Win in the circle and went 3-3 from the plate with a double and an RBI.  Christina McCoy hit safely three times, driving in 2 runs-- she also swiped three bases. Lily Nydam went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI, and Anna Wren went 2-2 with an RBI.  Also driving in runs were Ryley Kutter, Avery Tucker, TJ Webb, and Anna Kennedy.

8/22/22
The Wolves took another region game last night, this time an 8-0 5 inning victory over Pickens County.  Macey Cintron and Jessica Epps combined to shutout Pickens from the circle.  At the plate, Christina McCoy went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI.  Marjee Williams hit a double, pushed a run across, and threw one runner out stealing and picked another off base from her catcher spot.  Avery Tucker had a single, 2 stolen bases and a run while Shayla Bahr scored 2 runs and stole 2 bases.

8/20/22
The Wolves went 2-0 on Saturday defeating Chamblee and Banks Co.  In the first game, Macey Cintron pitched 7 scoreless innings of 4 hit ball, sitting 9 batters down on strikes. Shayla Bahr went 2-3 with two doubles and the lone RBI-- pushing Johanna Potter across the plate after she had singled.

In the second game, Ryley Kutter pitched 7 innings with 8 strikeouts.  Shayla Bahr stayed hot at the plate going 3-4 with 2 RBI and 2 Stolen Bases, and 2 runs scored.  The following Wolves also notched an RBI in game two: Macey Cintron, Lily Nydam, Sarah Wren, and Christina McCoy.

8/17/22
Varsity Softball opened Region play with a 5-0 win over Dawson County Wednesday night at Agape Field.  Ryley Kutter tossed a complete game no-hitter to the visiting Tigers, while Macey Cintron went deep for a 3-run homerun to seal the deal.  Freshman Avery Tucker went 2-2 at the plate, stole a base, and scored twice for the Wolves.

8/16/22
The Wolves dispatched the Marist War Eagles 7-0 behind a dominant 3 hit shutout from Macey Cintron in the circle, a 3-4 performance at the plate from Christina McCoy, and 2 RBI a piece from Marjee Williams and Shayla Bahr.

8/12/22

The Wolves pushed the record to 2-1 on the season with wins over East Coweta (5-4) and Parkview (3-0) on Friday.  In the East Coweta game, Macey Cintron earned the win in the circle behind 8 strikeouts while going 2-2 at the plate with a homerun.  Against Parkview, Ryley Kutter was the pitcher of record with a complete game 1 hitter.  Macey Cintron, Marjee Williams, Christina McCoy, Shayla Bahr, and Jasmine Potter each had two hits in the game.
