JV Softball Round-Up

9/28/22
The Wesleyan Wolves Junior Varsity softball team finished their season on Wednesday with a 15-3 win over the Brookwood High School Broncos.  The victory completed their season record at 8-2.  Jessica Epps pitched all 4 innings striking out 8 hitters while surrendering only 1 earned run.  Epps also collected 3 hits and 3 RBI in the game.  Ava Green hit a double and a triple and drove home 2 runs.  Leah Todd tallied 2 hits with an RBI.  Alyssa Flood hit a long double that pushed 2 more across the plate.  And Kendall Dettlinger is credited with a single with 2 RBI.
9/20/22
The Junior Varsity Wolves softball team dropped their game versus Chamblee last night by the score of 3-2.  We battled back from a one-run deficit to take a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning, but we surrendered 2 runs to Chamblee in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Jessica Epps tallied 2 hits and had an RBI and Audrey Doss hit a double and had an RBI.

9/13/22
The JV Wolves dispatched Dawson Co. on the road 8-2.  The girls were locked in a 1-0 duel with the Tigers through the first 4 innings, then the flood gates opened in the 5th inning.   Jess Epps kept the Tigers at bay with a 5-inning outing inside the circle surrendering only 2 runs while striking out 13 batters.  Kendall Dettlinger finished the Tigers off with a scoreless final inning along with some solid defensive work by Audrey Doss at 1B.  MC Harrison logged the initial RBI on a bloop single in the 2nd inning, and then came through with a line drive double that split the gap in left center field to drive in 2 more.  Ava Green then drove a ball into the rightfield corner to clear the bases to safely put the Wolves ahead 6-0.

9/7/22
The Junior Varsity softball team dropped their first game of the season tonight by the score of 4-0 to the Buford Wolves.  Jessica Epps pitched courageously but too many mistakes in the field and not enough offense spelled defeat for the Wesleyan Wolves.  The team has a 6-1 record on the year.

9/1/22
The Junior Varsity softball defeated Lumpkin County by the score of 7-2 yesterday.  Ava Green recorded 2 hits and collected 3 RBI.  Jessica Epps logged 4 innings pitched with 7 strikeouts. 

8/27/22
The JV Wolves took two on Saturday, defeating East Forsyth 14-2 and Hart County 12-0!

8/23/22
The Junior Varsity Softball team were 4-1 victors today over the Cambridge Bears.  Jessica Epps star shown brightly inside the circle by throwing 6 innings of 1-run ball allowing only 3 hits while striking out 8.  Kendall Dettlinger came up with a big 2-run single to put the Wolves ahead in the second inning … a lead they would not relinquish.  With the win, the JV Softball team is 3-0 on the season.

The Junior Varsity softball team picked up their second victory of the season today with a 15-1 victory over Dawson County.  Jessica Epps pitch 3 scoreless and hitless innings to pick up the win inside the circle.  Audrey Doss collected 3 RBI across the game while Ava Green, Epps, and Jackie Dwyer each tallied 2 hits.  The Junior Varsity Wolves are 2-0 on the season.

8/9/22

The Wesleyan Wolves Junior Varsity softball team kicked off the 2022 softball season with a thrilling 5-4 victory at Cambridge High School. The Wolves led the entire game, but there were a number of close moments.  Freshmen Jessica Epps was dominant inside the pitching circle as she threw 4 innings of 1-run ball while striking out 9 batters (8-in-a-row at one point).  She is credited with the win.  Kendall Dettlinger came in to pitch the final 3 innings scattering 3 hits and working around 3 walks.  The Wolves received timely hitting from Jessica Epps in the 1st with a two-out single to drive in the first run of the game.  Then freshmen Ava Green laced a double in the top of the fifth inning to plate 2 runs and break the 1-1 tie.  Freshmen Alyssa Flood had the decisive hit in the top of the 7th inning when she led off the inning with a triple that bounced off the fence.  Alyssa would come home to score the Wolves 5th run on a fielder’s choice which would secure the 5-4 victory.
