Wesleyan School welcomes new staff for the 2022-2023 school year

Wesleyan School is excited to welcome the following staff for the 2022-2023 school year. Read more about their backgrounds below: 
Kathryn Ashley will join the admissions team as the admissions coordinator. Kathryn began her Wesleyan career as a faculty fellow in 2006 and began teaching in lower school for the next six years. She left Wesleyan in 2013 to raise her children. Kathryn is a graduate of James Madison University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Design. Kathryn received a Master of Arts at Oglethorpe University in Early Childhood Education. Kathryn attends Perimeter Church.
 
Haley Blanchard joined Wesleyan in April of 2022 as digital communications manager. Prior to coming to Wesleyan, Haley worked at Nexus Marketing where she served as a content publishing coordinator, and prior to that she was on staff with the Wesley Foundation at the University of Georgia as a media specialist. Haley graduated from Parkview High School, then earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Georgia. Haley attends Passion City Church. 

Cairo Booker ‘16  will be returning to Wesleyan in the role of special events manager and will coach varsity girls basketball. After graduating from Wesleyan in 2016, Cairo attended Wofford College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She then attended Wingate University where she worked as a graduate assistant in the women’s basketball program while she completed her Master of Arts in Sports Management. Cairo attends Fairfield Baptist Church. 

Anna Karam will be working as the after care manager. Prior to coming to Wesleyan, she worked at Walt Disney World and served as the member experience director at White Columns Country Club. After graduating from Fellowship Christian School in 2014, Anna attended the University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts. Anna and her husband, Ryan, attend Northside Church.

Will Kimberlin will be working in development and admissions at Wesleyan this year, while also coaching boys middle school basketball and assisting with varsity track and field. Will was a faculty fellow last school year at Wesleyan, helping teach fifth grade math alongside Sarah Peebles. He is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, where he graduated from Mountain Brook High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a minor in Sport Management. Will attends Atlanta Westside Presbyterian Church. 

Susan McGurl will be joining the business office and training to fill the role of Human Resources Coordinator after Linda Schutte retires. Prior to coming to Wesleyan, Susan was running her own business as a freelance voice-over artist. Before that, she was the marketing coordinator for Century Solutions Group, a local IT MSP. Susan graduated from Dunwoody High School and then earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Georgia Tech. She currently attends Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City.

Rebekah Smith joined Wesleyan in May of 2022 as a digital media coordinator. Her primary responsibilities center around the school’s photography needs, including supporting the yearbook and communications teams. Rebekah has helped with senior portraits for the past two years on a contract basis and has also worked in the Wesleyan Spirit Shop. She attends Perimeter Church. 

Melissa Thorson will be rejoining the Wesleyan community as the Executive Assistant to the Head of School. From 2009-2015, Melissa worked at Wesleyan as an 11th grade English teacher and Girls Grade Chair followed by becoming a part-time Writing Lab instructor. Prior to working at Wesleyan, she taught English at Parkview High School, her alma mater. Most recently, she has continued teaching part-time online at Georgia Virtual School, started her own Enneagram Coaching Business, Peachtree Enneagram, and enjoyed being home with her three young children. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in English Secondary Education from Asbury University and a Master of Arts in English Secondary Education from Piedmont College. She is currently searching for a church home.
