Wesleyan School welcomes new high school faculty for the 2022-2023 school year

Wesleyan School is excited to welcome the following high school faculty for the 2022-2023 school year. Read more about their backgrounds below: 
Amy Barrett will serve as a long-term substitute in the high school counseling department.  Amy previously worked at Wesleyan from 2001-2007 as the director of Christian life. She has also worked as a licensed professional counselor in her private practice for twenty-six years. Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education from Washington University in St. Louis before earning a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Master of Arts in General Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary. Amy and her family are members and serve at Peachtree Corners Baptist Church.

Christian Brook
will be teaching high school English classes alongside Cameron Alexander. He will also assist with varsity cross country, middle school boys basketball, and junior varsity boys lacrosse. Christian participated in the Grace Snellville internship program, serving as the EmpowerU Internship assistant director. He is currently the front of house manager and coffee educator at 1000 Faces Coffee in Athens. Christian is a graduate of Grayson High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Georgia College and State University. He attends church at Grace Athens.   

Davis Brown ‘10
will serve as the assistant director of Christian life for worship and discipleship. Davis teaches high school Bible and coaches middle school football and varsity lacrosse. Davis worked for a year at Passion City Church in Atlanta, followed by four years of teaching and coaching at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School. Davis graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy and played lacrosse. Davis attends Perimeter Church. 

Ilah Campbell will serve as a physics teacher in the high school. She has over 14 years of experience in education and has taught in both the private and public school sectors. In addition to teaching, Ilah has also worked as a tutor in Peachtree Corners since 2018. Ilah earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in physics from Francis Marion University. She holds a Master of Science in Medical Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology. Ilah and her husband, Lance, attend Landmark Church. 

Ferrell Cline will serve as a Bible teacher in the high school and will coach the varsity girls soccer team. She spent the last year substituting and serving as a teacher’s assistant at Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill. Ferrell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and a minor in World Languages and Cultures from Samford University and Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Having just moved to Atlanta from Durham, Ferrell is excited to find a church to call home. 

Indyasia Fowler will serve as a high school science teacher and the middle school/high school diversity liaison. She will also coach varsity basketball cheerleading. Indyasia will begin her sixth year teaching at Wesleyan. She began as a seventh and eighth grade science teacher, then accepted the additional role of middle school diversity coordinator. Indyasia holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry Education from Lee University. She also holds a Master of Education in Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia where she is in the final year of her Educational Doctorate in Leadership. Indyasia attends church at Overflow Ministries. 

Tracey Gram will serve as the new middle school/high school nurse. She has over 25 years of nursing experience in ICU, primary care, and summer camps. Tracey holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University. She attends Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.  

Dr. Brian Gronewoller will serve as a high school Latin teacher. Brian has several years of experience teaching spoken Latin, philosophy, and theology—most recently at Hebron Christian Academy—and has published three Latin novellas for beginner- and intermediate-level Latin learners. He also teaches historical theology at Candler School of Theology, and Oxford University Press recently published his first book, Rhetorical Economy in Augustine’s Theology (2021). He has a Doctorate in Historical Theology (Patristics) from Emory University and both a Master of Theology and Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Brian attends Perimeter Church. 

Philip Hart will be rejoining the Wesleyan community as a high school Spanish teacher. Philip has been teaching for 17 years, starting as a high school Spanish teacher at Wheeler High School and then Pope High School at Cobb County Public Schools. After three years of teaching, Philip served two years as a deputy sheriff at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. After serving in law enforcement, Philip returned to teaching as a high school Spanish teacher at Wesleyan. After teaching at Wesleyan, he moved to Seoul, South Korea to teach at Seoul Foreign School. In total, he and his family lived and worked in Seoul for five years from 2016-2018 and 2019-2022, with a one-year return to Georgia in 2018-2019 where he worked at King’s Ridge Christian School. Philip holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Kennesaw State University as well as a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University. He is currently visiting local churches to find his new church home. 

Tracey McIntosh will serve as the high school administrative assistant. Tracey has served at Wesleyan as lower school assistant librarian for five years and calendar coordinator for three years. Tracey holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Penn State University and a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Florida. Tracey attends North Point Community Church. 

Debbie Penso will serve as the high school learning specialist. Debbie will be working with ninth grade students in the Strategies Cohort as well as managing the ARC 8 Study Skills Workshop. Debbie has been serving in the Academic Resource Center for the last two years as a seventh and eighth grade teacher. Prior to Wesleyan, Debbie was the teaching and learning coordinator at Atlanta Academy in Roswell. Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters in English Education from Auburn University; she also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Alabama. Debbie attends North Atlanta Church of Christ. 

Tyler Robert will be serving as a high school physics teacher and will coach middle school soccer. Tyler has taught Earth science for two years in Austin, Texas. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, also studying Genetics and Philosophy. Tyler is excited to find a church home in Atlanta. 

Hannah Grace Veal will serve as a teacher in the science department and will coach middle school lacrosse. She recently served as a substitute teacher at Wesleyan and worked as a water/wastewater engineer. Hannah Grace graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. She attends Christ Covenant Church. 

Katie Wischerth will serve as the English Department Chair. Katie has 17 years of teaching experience, 13 of which have been at Wesleyan on two different occasions. During Katie’s 13 years at Wesleyan, she has taught several courses in the English department including seventh grade English, tenth grade Honors English, twelfth grade Senior Seminar, and AP English and Language Composition. Katie is a graduate of Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Education in English, and she is a recipient of the 2021 GISA Master Teacher Award. Katie is a parishioner at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
