Middle school robotics team excels at TSA Nationals
Three Wesleyan students recently earned top ten finalist recognitions at the Middle School Technology Student Association Nationals in Dallas, TX. Congratulations to Larry Men ’26, Jia Lim ’27, and Yuna Cho ’28 for their impressive performances in the VEX IQ robotics, problem solving, medical technology, and essays on technology categories. Led by faculty sponsor LaShandia Hill, STEM teacher, the trio of students qualified for nationals by placing highly in many local competitions throughout the school year.
Men, Lim, and Cho each earned top ten finalist recognitions in the VEX IQ robotics category, which requires students to collaborate on a robotics project that explores the relationship among STEM fields, culminating in a head-to-head game to test their robot's efficiency and productivity.
Men and Cho earned top ten finalist recognitions in the problem-solving category, which requires students to use problem-solving skills to develop a finite solution to a problem provided on site.
Lim and Cho earned top ten finalist recognitions in the medical technology category, which requires students to research a contemporary medical technology issue of their choosing, document their research within a display, design a prototype depicting a medical technology solution, and present their solution.
Lim earned a top ten finalist recognition in the essays on technology category, which requires students to research specified subtopics of a broader technological area and, using the knowledge and resources gained through that research, write a comprehensive essay on one subtopic that is designated on site.
