Wesleyan parent creates a video to celebrate culture

This May, Wesleyan has enjoyed celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month as a community. We are grateful for multiple opportunities to learn about the beautiful culture of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Recently, the Atlanta Chinese Dance Company visited Wesleyan, and students were able to learn about Chinese culture through dances and props. You can read more about this here

Students continued to learn more about Chinese heritage and traditions thanks to Wesleyan parent, Carol Wu, who created a video to teach about the musical instrument called the GuZheng. This instrument is often used to play Chinese classical music.

As described in the video, the GuZheng is made up of 21 strings and has a four-octave range. Wu explained that GuZheng players often wear finger pricks on one or both hands when playing the instrument. She finished off the video by playing a lovely song on the GuZheng.

We appreciate Wu’s willingness to share her time and talents with our community, and we are thankful to learn more about our Asian American and Pacific Islander friends and neighbors.
