Tennis - Two Teams, One Dream

The Girls and Boys Tennis teams both won the GHSA State Championship on Saturday at the Rome Tennis Center on the campus of Berry College.  This is the first time in school history that both teams have won State in the same year.

The girls started the day off hot with a 3-0 sweep of the George Walton Bulldogs.  The #1 doubles combo of Tinsley Bertram & Katherine Scott and were quickly followed by Sophie Gibbs at #1 singles.  #2 Singles player Lauren Tucker iced the match while #3 singles player Livi Stolle and the #2 doubles combo of Oliva Noel and Caroline Scott both held commanding leads.  This title is Wesleyan's fourth overall in Girls Tennis.

The boys picked up where the girls left off, defeating Holy Innocents 3-1.  Grayson Balloon started the match off by winning #1 singles and was joined in the clubhouse by the #2 doubles team of Aidan Abraham and Matthew Godfrey.  Then it was Connor Hewitson's turn to once again seal the deal for the boys in dramatic fashion.  This state crown is the second in school history on the boys side.
