Missions spotlight: Colorado team plugs into equine therapy

Over spring break, a group of Wesleyan faculty and high school students partnered with 51:10 Youth Ranch to join in on the unique ways Christ is moving in Colorado.
51:10 Youth Ranch’s mission is to utilize equine therapy “to provide a safe place for children, horses, and families. A place where children experience encouragement, inspiration, and affirmation.” Students had the opportunity to encourage those leading the ministry by participating in a landscaping project at the founder’s house.

“Through seeing equine therapy be such a blessing to the kids of the community and how they found peace, healing, and restoration through the horses, I realized the Lord had done the same with my older sister when she was younger and experiencing a difficult season. While on this trip and hearing of others’ interactions with the horses, I saw how God had been faithful and been there for my sister through her horse,” said Palmer Louthan ‘22.

Students immersed themselves in the culture of the area by going on a hike, eating lunch in downtown Buena Vista, and thrift shopping in Salida.

“The area we were in just sang of God's greatness, beauty, and power in a new way. His fingerprints were everywhere you looked; this incredible view up to the mountains showed a new level of satisfying calmness, radiating with the beauty of God's heart,” shared Louthan.

Thank you, Colorado team, for loving and encouraging the 51:10 Youth Ranch in Colorado this spring break.
