Guest speaker Davon Stack reminds students of God’s faithfulness

On Thursday, Feb. 24, Davon Stack, director of junior high ministry at Perimeter Church, reminded middle and high school students of God’s faithfulness, referencing the story Joseph found in Genesis 37-41. Stack summarized Joseph’s story and emphasized that Joseph repeatedly found himself in less-than-ideal circumstances when it would have been easy to question God’s faithfulness; however, because of the gifts God gave Joseph, Joseph earned favor with Pharoah and was given charge of all of Egypt.
In addition to sharing Joseph’s story, Stack also described evidence of God’s faithfulness in his own life. Stack raised support as a campus minister and chaplain at the University of South Carolina, and at times, he said, he doubted whether or not he would meet his fundraising goals. Even in his doubt, Stack clung to the promises of Lamentations 3:22-24- “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

As we continue to reflect on the 2021-2022 Christian life theme of “flourishing,” with a focus on the fruits of the Spirit, we rejoice in God’s faithfulness to us.
