5/11/22
Game 1:  Wesleyan 18—Whitefield 0 (4 innings)
Wesleyan scored 9 runs in the opening frame and followed that up with one in the second inning and 4 in the third and fourth innings.  The Wolves were aided by 4 consecutive walks to open the game by Whitefield’s starter.  Forrest Lietz had a day to remember by going 3 for 3 with 5 RBI including a squeeze bunt, a single, a double, and a 3-run homer in the fourth inning to finish the scoring to 18-0.  Nate Kerpics also picked up 3 hits and 3 RBI on 3 singles.  Kerpics was the winning pitcher throwing 3 scoreless and hitless innings before giving way to Dominick Scalese who pitched the fourth inning.  Together, they combined to no-hit the Wolfpack.

Game 2:  Wesleyan 9—Whitefield 5
Druw Jones started on the mound for the Wolves in Game 2, and he quickly retired the first three Whitefield batters.  Then the Wolves turned up the heat again by scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.  After that, the Wolves seemed to let up before tacking on one more in the 6th inning.  Whitefield mounted small rallies but never threatened the lead.  Jones pitched 5 innings before handing the ball over to Cooper Blauser for the 6th and Dominick Scalese for the 7th.  The Wolves scored their runs in the 1st by stringing together a bunch of singles and then adding stolen bases to the tally.

Wesleyan will take on Mt. Paran in the Final 4 on Monday the 16th at 4pm.
4/22/22
The Wesleyan Wolves finished their regular season with a 7-1 victory over the Grayson Rams in a game played at Grayson High.  The Wolves jumped on the board in the first inning when Cooper Blauser crossed home plate on an infield single by Carson Ballard.  Wesleyan added 2 more runs in the third inning when Druw Jones led off the inning with a triple to right center field and came home on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Hubbard and then Schley Gordy hit a double and was driven home on a single by Forrest Lietz.  Wesleyan made the score 5-0 in the fifth inning when Hubbard scored on a sacrifice fly by Gordy and Blauser ran after an error by Grayson.  Grayson answered with a single run in the bottom of the fifth, but Carson Ballard hit a 2-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to increase the lead to 7-1.  A combination of pitchers which included Dominick Scalese, Reed Purcell, Nate Kerpics, and Cooper Blauser kept the Rams offense in check throughout the night.  Wesleyan finished the regular season with a record of 25-4.  The Wolves will play Christian Heritage our of Dalton, GA, in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday at Wesleyan in a doubleheader starting at 4:00pm.


4/21/22
The Wesleyan Wolves were victorious again tonight by way of a 10-5 final over the Hebron Christian Academy Lions in a game played in Dacula.  This turned out to be a good game if you are learning to count by 5’s.  With the score unchanged since the start, in the bottom of the fourth inning, Hebron plated 5 runs with a combination of singles, walks, and squeeze bunts.  In the top of the 5th inning, Wesleyan answered with 5 runs of their own to knot the game at 5.  Wesleyan’s 5-run rally began with 2-outs in the inning.  The big hits in the inning came from Joe Laurite with a 2-run triple and Will Tucker with a 2-run double.  Then in the top of the 7th inning, Wesleyan tacked on 5 more runs with a combination of singles, walks, and squeeze bunts to push the score to 10-5.  Christopher Izzo delivered a 2-run single in the inning to put the game out of reach.  Grayson McCollum threw the final 3 innings of scoreless relief scattering 2 hits to go along with 2 strikeouts to earn the win on the mound.  The win gave the Wolves a clean 15-0 record in their Region, and primes them to defend the Donn in the first two rounds of the GHSA playoffs.


4/20/22
The Wesleyan Wolves baseball team secured the Region Championship tonight at home behind a 13-1 showing versus the Hebron Christian Academy Lions.  The Wolves put up 5 runs in the first inning and never looked back.  They added 2 more in the 2nd inning and 3 runs each in the 3rd and 4th innings to invoke the mercy rule in the 5th inning.  Druw Jones was the winning pitcher having thrown 4 inning of 4 hit, 1 run ball with 7 strikeouts.  Cooper Blauser pitching a scoreless 5th inning and logged a strikeout of his own.  The big hitters on the night for the Wolves were Bryce Hubbard who was 3-3 including a double with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored.  Blauser was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI including a 3-run homer.  Schley Gordy and Nate Kerpics each had 2 RBI on 1 for 2 nights.  And Druw Jones was 1 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Wesleyan is 23-4 on the season and 14-0 in region play.


4/19/22
The Wesleyan Wolves defeated the Hebron Christian Academy Lions tonight by the score of 12-0 in 6 innings in a game played in Dacula.  The game was knotted at 0-0 going into the 3rd inning when Bryce Hubbard launched a long homerun to right field after a Druw Jones single.  The round-tripper put the Wolves up 2-0.  Dominick Scalese joined in the fun with a solo homer in the 4th inning to make the score 3-0.  Then in the 5th inning, Carson Ballard who was dominant on the mound for the Wolves, smacked a bases-clearing double to plate 3 more runs taking the score to 6-0.  Finally, in the 6th inning, Bryce Hubbard hit a sacrifice fly and Cooper Blauser drilled a single to bring home another run to put the scoreboard at 8-0, and then the man-of-the-hour Carson Ballard jettisoned a ball over the left field fence for a Grand Slam homerun to push the score to 12-0.  Ballard finished the game with 7 RBI and tallied 7 strikeouts while only surrendering 5 hits as a pitcher.  He finished his 6 innings of shutout pitching in just 63 pitches.


4/13/22
 
The Wesleyan Wolves completed a three-game sweep of region rival Holy Innocents today in Peachtree Corners.  The final score ended up being 11-0 in five innings.  Nate Kerpics picked up the win on the mound throwing 4 innings while surrendering only one hit.  Schley Gordy pitched a scoreless 5th inning to seal the victory.  The Wolves scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning, single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings, and 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th.  Bryce Hubbard, Cooper Blauser, Carson Ballard, and Reed Purcell each collected 2 hits on the day; while Druw Jones and Nate Kerpics each hit homeruns—Druw’s was a 3-run homer and Nate’s was a solo shot.  Wesleyan is now 21-4 and 12-0 in region play.  Next week's series with Hebron will determine the Region Champion.

4/12/22
The second game of the 3 game series with HEIS was called in the 7th because of darkness at Holy Innocents to secure a 12-9 victory bring their record to 20-4 and 11-0 in region play.  Reed Purcell made his first start on the mound of the season and he turned in an admirable performance. Cooper Blauser again started the scoring with a long 3-run homerun to CF in the top of the 1st scoring Druw Jones and Bryce Hubbard.  In the third inning Hubbard doubled home Jones and then later scored on a Fielders Choice from Schley Gordy.  The Bears hit back to back homers in the bottom of the 3rd to draw within 3 at 5-2, but the Wolves added a run in the 4th on a Matthew Wright Fielders Choice.  HI then scored 7 runs in the 5th inning to take the lead at 9-6.  Then the Wolves rallied for 6 runs in the top of the 6th to retake the lead at 12-9. Forrest Lietz led off with a double and Nate Kerpics singled. After a strikeout and a fly out Jones walked. Hubbard hit a double to narrow the lead 9-8. Blauser singled to tie the game and then Gordy hit a 3-run homer to put the Wolves safely ahead 12-9. After the Bears were retired in the bottom of the 6th the game was called due to darkness.

4/11/22
Wesleyan defeated Region Rival Holy Innocents 7-3 to open this week's series against the Golden Bears.  Cooper Blauser opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot over the centerfield fence after the Wolves made 2 quick outs to start the inning.  Holy Innocents answered in the top of the 2nd inning with 2 runs to take the lead.  The Wolves regained the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a 3-run tally marked by a Druw Jones solo homer and two other runs crossing the plate on a fielder’s choice and an error.  Cooper Blauser came in to pitch in the third inning and threw 5 shutdown innings allowing only 1 run on 2 hits with 5 strikeouts.  Bryce Hubbard would add another solo homer as an insurance run in the fourth inning and the Wolves would tack on another 2 runs on a Carson Ballard infield single in the 6th to build their lead to 7-3.


Mt. Vernon Series
In Game 1 on Friday, an 18-7 victory, Cooper Blauser led the way offensively by going 4-for-4 with a double, a solo homer, 2 stolen bases, and 6 RBI.  Druw Jones also had a big day going 3-for-3 with a double, 3 stolen bases, and 2 RBI.  Other offensive contributors were Dom Scalese who had 2 hits including a 2-run homer and 2 RBI, Reed Purcell who had 2 singles, and Schley Gordy who hit a double.  The Wolves fell behind 4-1 in the 2nd inning before tying and taking the lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning by the score of 5-4.  Mt. Vernon tied the game again in the top of the 4th at 5 runs apiece, but then the Wolves exploded for a 13-run bottom of the 4th inning to seal the game in 5 innings of play.
 
In Game 2 on Friday, an 11-4 win, Bryce Hubbard was the offensive story for the Wolves going 3-for-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI.  Jones pitched in with 2 hits including a double and a homer and 2 stolen bases.  He scored 4 runs in the game.  Nate Kerpics hit a grand slam in the first inning which staked the Wolves to a 5-0 lead out of the gates on Senior Night.  He would pick up another hit for a total of 2 hits in the game.  The game would go all 7 innings.
 
In Game 3, played on Saturday at Mt. Vernon, the Wolves won 15-0 in 3 innings.  Pitcher Carson Ballard retired all 9 batters in order including 8 by strikeout for a “perfect game”.  Jones was 3-for-3 with 2 stolen bases.  Blauser was 1-for-1 with 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases.  Scalese hit another 2-run homer.  And Will Hillegass recorded 2 hits and 1 RBI.

4/4/22
Wesleyan’s baseball team fell to North Gwinnett on the road tonight by the score of 7-4. North Gwinnett jumped on top with a single run in the bottom of the first, but the Wolves answered back with 3 runs in the top of the second inning.  The big blow came from Bryce Hubbard who hit a 2-run double up the right field line.  Druw Jones also had an RBI single in the inning.  Jones and Hubbard tallied 2 hits apiece, and Stacy Johnson pitched 3 innings of relief giving up only 1 run during his outing.

The Wesleyan Wolves baseball team defeated the Providence Christian Academy Storm by the score of 8-3 Friday night at Donn Gaebelein Field.  Carson Ballard was credited with the win after pitching 5 innings while surrendering 5 hits, 3 runs, and collecting 7 strikeouts.  Cooper Blauser pitched the 6th and 7th innings giving up only 1 hit while tallying 3 strikeouts.  The Wolves’ hitters were led by Carson Ballard who went 3-for-4 with 3 hard hit singles, Forrest Lietz who had 2 hits including a double and a 2-run homer, and Will Hillegass who hit a solo homer.

Wesleyan’s baseball team defeated the Providence Christian Academy Storm by the score of 14-0 in a 5-inning affair.  Dominick Scalese pitched 4 innings of 1-hit ball to secure the win, and Lucas Schelhammer pitched the 5th inning without giving up a hit.  The Wolves’ hitters were led by Schley Gordy who was 2-for-4 and 4 RBI including a 3-run homer and Carson Ballard who was 1-for-2 with a 3-run homer.  Other offensive contributors were Forrest Lietz and Reed Purcell who chipped in 2 hits apiece.

3/29/22
Wesleyan defeated Providence Christian Academy by the score of 13-5 Tuesday night in Peachtree Corners.  The Wolves scored in every inning, taking an early lead on back-to-back homeruns by Druw Jones and Bryce Hubbard to start the bottom of the 1st inning.  They then added a third run in the inning on an RBI single from Carson Ballard.  Druw Jones was in complete control on the mound through 3 innings.  He finished his pitching stat line throwing 3 innings allowing 2 hits with 2 strikeouts and no runs surrendered while picking up the win.  Reed Purcell went 2-3 on the day with 2 singles, Dominick Scalese was 1-2 with 2 RBI, and Will Hillegass pushed 3 runs across on a sac fly and his first career Homerun.  The Wolves are 13-3 and 4-0 in Region Play.

3/28/22
The Wesleyan Wolves defeated the North Springs Spartans by the score of 11-3 in a mid-season non-region contest in Sandy Springs.  The Spartans started the scoring with a solo homer in the bottom of the first, but the Wolves bounced back with a 4-run inning in the top of the second.  Carson Ballard scored on an infield single from Grayson McCollum and then McCollum scored on a single from Reed Purcell.  Purcell and Druw Jones came home on a double from Bryce Hubbard.  North Springs scored single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to draw within one run; (4-3) but then the Wolves made a pitching change, and Lucas Schelhammer threw three innings of scoreless relief accumulating 7 strikeouts along the way.  Cooper Blauser pitched the 7th inning without surrendering a run while striking out 3 batters to end the game.  The Wolves offense put the game away with 4 runs in the 6th and 3 more runs in the 7th inning.  For the game, both Druw Jones and Grayson McCollum went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Bryce Hubbard collected 3 RBI.


3/25/22
The Wesleyan Wolves swept a doubleheader Friday from Galloway by the scores of 11-1 in Game 1 and 5-4 in Game 2.  Both games ended up in “walk off” wins in very different fashion.  Druw Jones hit a 3-run homer in  Game 1 to activate the 10-run mercy rule in the 5th inning, and Cooper Blauser came home on an errant throw after stealing 2nd base to seal the win in Game 2.  In Game 1, Jones started on the mound and pitched 4 innings with 7 strikeouts against 2 hits.  Blauser closed the game with 3 strikeouts in 1 inning of pitching.  Jones had 2 hits including the homerun with 4 RBI for the game.  Schley Gordy, Carson Ballard, and Forrest Lietz each had 2 hits.  Dom Scalese had a 2-RBI triple.  In Game 2, Scalese pitched 5.1 innings collecting 10 strikeouts, but Reed Purcell picked up the win with 1.2 innings of relief pitching giving up only 1 hit and tallying 4 strikeouts.  Grayson McCollum was 2 for 2 with a double.  


3/22/22
The Wesleyan Wolves baseball team defeated the Galloway Scots by the score of 11-1 tonight in the Wolves’ region opener.  Bryce Hubbard tallied 2 hits including a homerun.  He had 3 runs and 2 RBI on his stat line.  Cooper Blauser also had 2 hits including a double, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Carson Ballard, Schley Gordy, and Dom Scalese all hit doubles.  Gordy accounted for 1 RBI and Scalese had 2 RBI.  Nate Kerpics was the winning pitcher going 4 innings allowing only 1 hit and 1 run while accumulating 6 strikeouts.  Lucas Schelhammer threw 2 innings of relief with 0 hits and 0 runs and 5 strikeouts.

3/10/22
The Wesleyan Wolves defeated the Dunwoody Wildcats in dramatic fashion on Thursday night in Peachtree Corners.  Bryce Hubbard hit a 3-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning with the score 2-1 in favor of Dunwoody.  It was Hubbard’s second hit of the night and contributed to his 4 RBI.  Pitchers Carson Ballard (4 IP) and Nate Kerpics (3 IP) combined to keep the Wildcats to 2 runs by limiting Dunwoody’s bats to 4 hits and striking out 7 batters.  Druw Jones and Reed Purcell tallied 2 hits apiece for the Wolves, and Cooper Blauser added a double.  The Final was 4-2.


3/7/22
The Wesleyan baseball team dropped a tough road game tonight to the Blessed Trinity Titans by the score of 14-3.  The Wolves had the chance to open a big lead in the top of the first inning, but they left the bases loaded following three consecutive strikeouts.  Then in the bottom of the first inning, the Wolves surrendered 8 runs … many of which were the product of 7 walks and one hit batsmen … all in the first inning!  Druw Jones hit a triple and had an RBI, and Bryce Hubbard hit a double and had an RBI.  Lucas Schelhammer tried to right the ship by providing 1 1/3 innings of relief with 3 strikeouts while neither giving up a hit nor a run.

3/5/22
The boys defeated the South Forsyth War Eagles on the road by the score of 15-7 on Saturday afternoon.  The Wolves surrendered 3 quick runs in the bottom of the first inning, but they bounced back with 2 runs in the second and 3 more runs in the 3rd to take the lead.  South Forsyth would not lie down, though.  The War Eagles tied the game at 5 in the bottom of the third.  The Wolves then plated 3 in the fourth, 2 in the fifth, and 5 in the sixth to put the game safely in hand.


3/2/22
The Wolves triumphed over the Decatur Bulldogs 6-1 in a 9-inning affair.  The Bulldogs jumped ahead in the 1st inning with a solo homer, but the Wolves’ Druw Jones answered back in the 3rd inning with a solo homer of his own.  The scored remained locked at 1 going into the 9th inning thanks to tremendous pitching by Wesleyan’s Nate Kerpics and Carson Ballard who matched Decatur’s Brady Jones pitch for pitch.  In the 9th inning, the Wolves pushed 5 across the plate following an error by Decatur.  Wesleyan’s big hit came off the bat of Forrest Lietz who plated 2 with a single to RF.

3/1/22
The Wesleyan Wolves defeated the Westminster Wildcats by the score of 13-1 in a 5-inning affair played in Peachtree Corners.  Cooper Blauser had a big day at the plate smacking 2 homeruns and collecting 6 RBI while going 3 for 3.  Druw Jones, Carson Ballard, and Reed Purcell also had 2 hits apiece and each tallied RBI.  Dominick Scalese pitched 4 innings and scattered 4 hits while only surrendering 1 run against 6 strikeouts.


2/26/22
The Varsity Baseball traveled to Valdosta, GA this weekend to defend the honor of the state of Georgia against Providence High School from Jacksonville, FLA and Florida State University High School from Tallahassee, FLA.  The Wolves dropped their first game to Providence by the score of 10-1, but they bounced back in Game 2 with a 6-4 victory over FSUHS.  Bryce Hubbard went 4 for 6 over the weekend including a 3 for 3 game in Game 2.  Carson Ballard was the winning pitcher in Game 2 having pitched 4 innings with 7 strikeouts, and Nate Kerpics threw 3 scoreless innings of relief with 5 strikeouts. 


2/22/22
The Wolves hosted the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack at Donn Gaebelein Field in Peachtree Corners tonight.  Most of the fireworks came in the first inning as the Wolves plated 8 runners—2 on a Schley Gordy single and four on a Grand Slam by Druw Jones during his second at bat of the inning.  Dominick Scalese held the Wolfpack down through his 3 innings of work striking out 2 while surrendering only 2 hits.  Gordy collected another RBI on a double in the second inning to put the Wolves comfortably ahead.

2/18/22
The Wolves picked up their first win of the season tonight with a 10-5 victory over the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans.  Druw Jones started on the mound and recorded 6 consecutive outs over the first two innings while the Wolves bats grabbed him a 7-0 lead behind the fireworks of a 2-run homer by Bryce Hubbard, a solo shot by Dominick Scalese, and a 2-run homer by Jones.  Jones finished his outing on the mound with 3 innings pitched which included 4 strikeouts.  He collected 3 hits on the night including another homer in the 5th inning to go 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored and a stolen base.  Hubbard picked up a double in addition to his homer to go 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. 


2/15/22

Wesleyan fell to Lovett on the road by the score of 6-2. Lovett jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. They extended their lead to 4-0 in the 3rd inning. The Wolves mustered single runs in the 4th and 5th innings but couldn’t rally for the lead. Cooper Blauser hit a solo homer in the fourth and Bruce Hubbard collected an RBI on a walk. Druw Jones and Schley Gordy had doubles on the day, and Carson Ballard threw 1.2 inning of scoreless relief.
