Wolf Players dance the weekend away in "All Shook Up"

Two creative geniuses, separated by centuries, both enjoyed the spotlight again during the recent production of “All Shook Up” by the Wesleyan Wolf Players. Telling the Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” to the music of Elvis Presley, theater goers enjoyed a classic story of love, mistaken identities, and a few surprises along the way.
“Without a doubt, my favorite aspect of this show was the relationships that unfolded before us,” said Stephanie Simmons, high school theater director. “So many of the characters began their story thinking they knew exactly what they wanted out of life. As new faces came to town to shake things up a bit, something interesting happened. Our characters began to fall for each other!  From misguided love and mistaken identities their journey to ‘burnin’ love,’ is actually one of fate and God’s sovereignty over relationships.”

The cast sang and danced to Elvis classics like “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” Hound Dog,” and “Love Me Tender,” to name a few.

While the Wolf Players is made up of students in grades 9-12, this show had an especially large number of seniors in the cast. Twenty-six seniors participated in the show in roles ranging from leads to ensemble to the stage crew.

“We love our entire cast and crew,” said Simmons. “But 22 from one grade level is really extraordinary and something that only a community like Wesleyan could make happen. We had seniors performing in their eighth musical, and for other seniors, this was their first time ever on the Wesleyan stage. Regardless of their prior experience, this group led the cast well and ended their Wesleyan musical career on a high note.”

Congratulations on a successful run, Wolf Players!
