Third grade performs "In Pursuit of the Fruits"

On Wednesday, Feb. 2, third grade students performed "In Pursuit of the Fruits" on the Bowen Cafetorium stage. The fruit of Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) are woven throughout the play, and each class performs a portion of the play based on a children’s book or short story:
  • Students in Ms. Loftis’ class share the story of Jeff Brumbeau’s The Quiltmaker’s Gift.
  • Students in Mrs. Thomas’ class perform based on Max Lucado’s Best of All.
  • Students in Mrs. Hall’s class explain Eileen Spinelli’s Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch.
To strengthen public speaking skills, including poise and confidence on stage, each grade in the lower school performs an annual play or musical. Because of this foundation in performing, the spotlight is not new for third grade students, and the In Pursuit of the Fruits performance continues the tradition that every student had at least one line in every performance.

The 2021-2022 Christian life theme is the fruit of the Spirit, and this connection further prompted third grade teachers to guide students to reflect on how they can exhibit the fruit of the Spirit.

Way to go, third grade students!
