Wesleyan Welcomes New Lower School Faculty for the 2021-2022 School Year

Wesleyan School is excited to welcome the following staff members to the lower school! Read more about their backgrounds below:
Meghan Smith will be joining the lower school faculty as a fourth grade teacher. Meghan holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Elementary Education from Roanoke College, a professional certificate in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Education Policy and Leadership from the University of Texas. This will be her eighth year of teaching, and she is excited to be returning to fourth grade after teaching fifth grade for the past three years. Meghan holds certifications in Project Based Learning and STEM education and recently was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award at her previous school. She is passionate about obtaining high levels of rigor for every student and is looking forward to integrating Christ-centered teachings into enriching classroom experiences. She attends Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.

Christy Pierce is returning to her previous role as a teaching assistant in the lower school after serving for two years as the after school manager. She will be working in kindergarten alongside Tish Buzby. Christy is well acquainted with Wesleyan as she and her husband have been part of the Wesleyan community for 17 years. Her husband, Jim, is a former trustee, and together they have four daughters. Kayla, Ashley (’18), Kensie (’19), and Rylee, a rising 10th grader. Christy is an Atlanta native and received her Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Sciences from the University of Georgia. The Pierce family attends Fellowship Bible Church. Christy has worked at Cup of Joy Ministries for the past 13 years and subbed at Wesleyan in the 2013-2014 school year. 

Judith Lumpkin will be joining the lower school staff serving as a teaching assistant for the second grade team. Judith holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Georgia, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist in Educational Leadership both from Lincoln Memorial University. She has over 13 years teaching experience in second and third grades, as well as experience as a private tutor and virtual learning facilitator.  She has a passion for working with children and seeks to make a difference within the school community by serving others.  Judith and her husband, Allen, are new Wesleyan parents, and they have a rising fifth grader, Jackson, and a rising third grader, Graham.  The Lumpkin family resides in Brookhaven where they are very active within the community and attend Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.
