Wesleyan Names Graddy and Price as Morehead-Cain Scholarship Nominees
The College Advising Office is pleased to announce that both Katherine Graddy and Jacob Price have been nominated by a faculty committee as Wesleyan’s nominees for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Morehead-Cain Foundation seeks competitive applicants, who demonstrate moral force of character, academic scholarship, physical vigor, and leadership. The scholarship process is extremely selective; only three percent of nominees are awarded the scholarship each year.
In addition to her strong academic record, Katherine Graddy is a senior leader for Team Omicron and captain of the cross country team, serves as the service chair for student government, and is a member of the track team, outdoors club, and the debate team. Katherine has been recognized as a peer leader, and within this role she mentors the freshman class. Additionally, Katherine is the founder of Looking for Lilies, a pop-up flower cart, that benefits the City of Refuge.
In addition to his numerous academic honors, Jacob Price is president of the Honor Council and a four-year member of Mock Trial. Additionally, Jacob is an Iron Wolf (student who participates in three seasons of sports each year) all four years of high school in cross-country, swim and dive, and track and field teams; in all sports, he has participated at the state level.
Both students serve as Peer Leaders, Wesleyan Ambassadors for admissions tours and help lead SALSA (Students Advocating for Life without Substance Abuse) programming to lower and middle-school students.
If awarded, the Morehead Cain scholarship covers the full cost of attendance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill along with unique learning and travel opportunities. Our nominees have completed a rigorous application process including writing essays, securing recommendations, and if invited to be semi-finalists, will interview with the scholarship selection committees.
