Distance Learning Project Spotlight: Middle School Physical Education

During distance learning, physical education has also adjusted to an online format. Sixth grade chair and P.E. teacher Justin Krueger took some time to explain how he is approaching P.E. for his students.

“For P.E., we have been providing our students body-weight workouts they can do at home through a program called TeamBuildr. It allows the students to complete questionnaires and surveys about their nutrition, sleep, and progress on the exercises. We can also track all of those answers in real time.”

“Additionally, each P.E. teacher has made multiple demonstrations and/or challenge videos for the students which provide them with activities that can be done at home. This promotes staying active and competitive, whether it be by themselves or with a family member.” (See below for videos):

“Then, we are doing live class check-ins with students to see how they are doing and provide coaching cues and pointers for their workouts during. We have also had some students stop in for office hours to clarify things about the workout and techniques, or just to catch up!”
