Other notable highlights include:

• On average, each senior applied to 5.6 colleges with a total of 645 applications submitted.

• Thirty-four percent of our seniors will stay in the state of Georgia, and 78 percent will stay in the southeast. Beyond the borders of the southeast, Texas, Indiana, and Pennsylvania were the biggest draws, with others venturing to states including California, Massachusetts, Washington, and Wyoming.

• Students earned several prestigious academic distinctions including a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia, two Stamps President’s Scholars at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a POSSE Scholarship at Texas A&M. Each of these students earned scholarships that cover the full cost of attendance over four years.

• In total, the class of 2020 (115 students) reported $7.2 million in scholarship money (beyond the HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships). Approximately $1 million of that $7.2 million was athletic awards with the rest being merit-based.

Although ultimate credit for these achievements goes to the students, we would be remiss not to mention the role families, faculty, and the larger Wesleyan community play in educating and encouraging these students through the college process and to their ultimate success. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for each of these students on their new campuses and fully believe they will carry on Wesleyan’s mission to “change lives, change the world.”
