Distance Learning Project Spotlight: Sixth Grade Science

This season of distance learning has been a period of transition and change for students and teachers alike. In this series on distance learning projects, we will highlight classes that have used unique projects to keep students engaged while learning their respective course material at home.
Spend time in a science classroom at Wesleyan, and you will often see experiments being performed to showcase knowledge learned in a textbook. Middle school science teacher Jen Sheppard has kept these science experiments going in her very own kitchen!

Sheppard has covered a number of topics including, the effect of temperature on currents, cloud formations, convection tubes, and salinity all from her own home. Up next for Sheppard is a “Mission to Mars” project where she will be showing how plants test the soil for nutrients.
