7th grader Makenna Wazevich Uses Sewing Skills for Good

After the Artist Market was canceled, 7th grader, Makenna Wazevich, came up with a new way to use her sewing skills. Originally, Makenna was going to be a fellow artist featured in the market, selling creations from her sewing business. Makenna's mother Jodi Wazevich said, "Of course, we were all sad, but my sister in Wisconsin suggested to Makenna to take her fabrics and make medical masks to help doctors and nurses."
Makenna loved this idea and immediately began sewing.  So far Makenna has made and donated 40 masks that have already been delivered to a few friends in the medical field for distribution. One friend is an Emory Hospital nurse who has given them to fellow nurses and doctors.  Another Emory nurse who runs the Oncology Infusion center received some masks and already asked for more last night! The Wazevich family additionally delivered to a friend and his team of anesthesiologists at Northside Hospital.

Currently, she is working on 20 masks for a family member and his Radiology team at a hospital in St Louis. Once those are done she will get back to making more for the Oncology Infusion Center at Emory.

Makenna's mother said, "I love her huge generous heart and wanting to jump in and help!"
