What is Art with the Masters?
Art with the Masters is an after school enrichment class where we study a famous artist each week through reading picture books, comparing and discussing their art, and then creating a rendering of one of their most famous works.
What are some fun projects the kids are doing?
This session, we’ll do pointillism like Seurat, sculpture in the spirit of Chihuly, abstract art like Pollack, make Kandinsky style valentines, and more!
How did you end up teaching this enrichment class?
This is the 4th year I’ve offered this enrichment class. When I taught first grade in a classical school in Austin, TX we did artist studies two times a year, and I was blown away by the incredible Audubon birds and Georgia O’Keefe flowers those 6-year-old’s were able to create. I’m not an art teacher, but I’m able to help the students study a famous work and do their own interpretation of it!
