Wesleyan students and faculty serve on mission trips in the United States

Over spring break, students and faculty traveled near and far to serve on ten mission trips, and three teams served their neighbors in the States.
The Appalachia team traveled to Eastern Kentucky to serve with Good Neighbors, Inc. Together, students and faculty tackled three major projects – replacing roofing, installing new flooring, and organizing the ministry’s warehouse.
“Beyond the physical work, students experienced powerful moments of worship, daily devotion, and deep connection with one another and the local community. God’s perfect timing was evident throughout the week, and it was incredible to witness students grow in confidence, ask bold questions about faith, and encourage one another,” shares Laura Terry, middle school science teacher.
Eighth grade students traveled to Chattanooga to serve at the homes of widows throughout the city.
“While we worked, we also had the chance to connect with the widows, hear about their story, and glean wisdom from a well-lived life,” reflects Sean Nestor, middle school counselor.
The team also spent time volunteering at the Chattanooga Food Bank.
“It was sweet to see God open our students’ eyes to the ‘new worlds’ that exist not too far from where they do live,” says Nestor.
Another team of eighth grade students served alongside City Takers, an organization committed to raising up urban missionaries, in Atlanta. The team gave socks to people experiencing homelessness and spent time talking and praying for them.
“We discovered that these are God’s people and God’s love is a relational experience,” shares Kim Youmans, learning specialist.
The group also spent time packing food in food banks around Atlanta, participated in outreach at a laundromat, and visited Maximum Impact Love, a warehouse that provides furniture to those in need.
Thank you to all the students and faculty who served within the United States this summer! Hear from the teams who traveled to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Poland, and Guatemala.
