Students attend the 17th annual Atlanta Invitational Case Studies (AICS)
- High School
This past Saturday morning, Wesleyan students attended the 17th annual Atlanta Invitational Case Studies (AICS). The event served almost 800 sophomores and their parents from 16 independent high schools in the Atlanta area.
During AICS, a college admission professional led participants through a mock admissions committee meeting. As members of the committee, students and parents reviewed the fictional applicants based on their academics, activities, and involvement, ultimately deciding whether each applicant should be admitted, denied, or waitlisted. At the conclusion of their committee meeting, all students gathered to hear the final admission decision for each of the fictitious students. When the parents completed their sessions, they gathered for a panel discussion led by two admissions representatives and one parent who had been through the process. Topics discussed included how well universities know the independent school landscape as well as how the college process is the child’s process to own.
While the parents met, the 75 college admissions representatives moved over to host a college fair. During this time, students were able to visit with representatives from schools such as Carnegie Mellon University, Davidson College, George Washington University, Northwestern University, Southern Methodist University, University of Chicago, University of Georgia, and Washington University in St. Louis.
We are thankful for the opportunity our sophomores received to learn more about the college process and to meet with college representatives.
