Students attend chapel to reflect on mission trips

On Thursday, March 27, Wesleyan’s Christian life department hosted a chapel to reflect on spring break mission trips.
After a time of worship, Jen Sheppard, assistant director of Christian life: missions and retreats, encouraged students to keep seeking the Lord and to let the things learned on their trips take root in their hearts, so the Lord can create a harvest.
Senior Noah Sanders shared about his mission trip experience in the Dominican Republic. Through an unexpected, sweet experience with a child he met on the trip, Sanders realized “we can never anticipate or expect how God will work in our lives, but we can expect Him to be at work when we remain in Him.”
Senior Caroline Yates reflected on her experience in Mexico. She shared what it was like to help operate an eyeglasses ministry and pray in Spanish with those who requested prayer.
“This was super out of my comfort zone, but I knew this was an opportunity that I wouldn’t have again, so I knew God would use my prayers to communicate with those people,” reflects Yates. “Once we finished, and I looked back, I found myself feeling thankful and in awe of the experience. I felt God push me outside of my comfort zone to use my gifts to build relationships.
Thank you, Noah and Caroline, for sharing your wisdom and experiences!
