On Wednesday, Dec. 11, middle and high school band students presented the annual Christmas Concert.
“The Christmas concert is a special tradition because it is the culmination of a semester of hard work. While it is a presentation of the students’ hard work, it is a fun, spirited concert with the icing of tacky Christmas attire,” smiles Jeff Foster, band director.
The Fifth Grade Band opened with a “Pep Tune Medley” arranged themselves. Next, they performed “Blue Australian Dog” by David Campbell.
The Jazz Club performed “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble (arranged by Scott Ragsdale) and “Backjump” by Trombone Shorty (arranged by John Wasson).
The Advanced Band performed “Byzantine Dances” by Carol Brittin Chambers, “Blessing Wind” by Yukiko Nishimura, “Toboggan” by John Herndon featuring a percussion ensemble, and “Deck the Halls” arranged by Mike Collins-Dowden.
The High School Symphonic Band performed “I’ll be Home for Christmas” by Walker Kent (arranged by Dallas Burke), “Air” by J.S. Bach (arranged by Les Sabina), “Arabian Dances” by Brian Balmages, and “Carol of the Bells” arranged by Jess Mattson and featuring a percussion ensemble. They closed with “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.
Well done, band students!
