Nadia Thieriot named Belk Scholarship nominee

The College Advising Office is pleased to announce that Nadia Thieriot, a Wesleyan Evergreen, is Wesleyan’s nominee for the Belk Scholars competition at Davidson College. Belk Scholar nominees “must demonstrate academic excellence and purposeful engagement in the classroom, with student and civic organizations, on the athletic field, or in the arts. While academic achievement is paramount, Belk Scholars also exhibit intellectual curiosity and a commitment to both their local and global communities.”
Thieriot has compiled a superlative academic record resulting in membership in numerous honor societies. She earned Summa Cum Laude on the National Latin exam twice, and this past summer, she attended the prestigious Governor’s Honors Program as a Latin major. Furthermore, she has earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate while progressing toward the AP Capstone Diploma.

Beyond the classroom, Thieriot is deeply involved in the performing arts. A four-year member of Chamber Singers, she was named to the All-State Chorus as a freshman, and she was a member of Wesleyan’s Girls Trio as a freshman and sophomore. The trio won region both years and earned second in the state her freshman year (the state competition was canceled her sophomore year). Finally, Thieriot has performed in several theater productions throughout her high school year playing roles ranging from lead to supporting to ensemble.

If awarded, the Belk Scholarship covers the full cost of attendance for four years, as well as stipends for summer programs. Congratulations to the Thieriot family for this tremendous honor, and best wishes to Nadia in her quest to become a Belk Scholar!
