National Merit Scholarship Corporation honors twelve Wesleyan students and names one semifinalist

The College Advising Office is pleased to announce that the National Merit Scholarship Corporation has recognized eleven Wesleyan seniors. Alex Thorne was named a National Merit Semifinalist, an honor that only 1% of seniors (approximately 16,000 total) nationwide receive based on their PSAT scores. Alex will now submit essays in the hopes of becoming a finalist and earning scholarship money. The finalists will be announced in February 2021.
In addition, Wesleyan has ten National Merit Commended Students. Approximately 2% of seniors nationwide receive this recognition. Our Commended Students are Paul Baisier, Carson Ballard, Kayla Kim, Sarah Lim, Mackenzie Madison, Mackenzie Maxwell, Ryan McConnell, Henry Moore, Michael Soukup, and Nadia Thieriot.

NMSC also designated junior Parker Tidwell to be honored in the National African American Recognition Program.

Congratulations to these students and their families! For a full gallery of pictures of students honored, please visit the gallery here.
