Alumni Spotlight - Maddie Lopez Morden ’07

Mother daughter team Maddie Lopez Morden ’07 and Tammy Lopez are the creative forces behind Personify in downtown Duluth. The popular store is the latest iteration of Maddie and Tammy’s ventures in business…and family.
“We actually started out up at Lake Raburn,” Maddie recalls. “I’d been working in Atlanta in another field and just wasn’t fulfilled. My mom and I had dreamed for years of having our own shop. The opportunity presented itself and we jumped right in.”

The have always loved “treasure hunting” together. That passion first turned into a shop known for eclectic and memorable finds, mostly in furniture and home furnishings.

“Our shop at the lake was such a fun way to get started on this adventure,” says Tammy. “We had a loyal client base and learned a lot. That gave us the courage to pursue a vision of opening a store in town.”

The pair opened Personify in downtown Duluth when that area was just beginning its revitalization.

"We searched high and low for the right location and are so happy we ended up in Duluth where we both live,” says Maddie.  “We love our spot and our neighbors and this community. It's absolutely where we were meant to be."

Personify’s flagship store in in the heart of downtown Duluth on West Lawrenceville street. Filled with unique treasures, the shop is a one stop spot for women’s clothing, jewelry, baby gifts, stationary, accessories, and home furnishings.
