12th Grade English and Composition

Employing multiple genres from contemporary writers, 12th grade English is designed to provide students with a rich experience in the literary arts. During this year-long course, students will discover crucial literary and cultural themes and will be encouraged to compose some of their own. Some examples of these themes are how authors use fiction to explore our definitions of “normalcy;” to contemplate the effects of both individual and collective tragedy or suffering; to study how isolation impacts human psyche; and to deliberate the notion of our “place” in the world.
